Sharing LIGHT and HOPE for People with or at Risk for Diabetes
Professional Education:
The Professional Education Workgroup has ongoing responsibility for arranging speakers and facilities for the quarterly KDN programs/meetings.
Other activities include:
dissemination of at least 10,000 “Diabetes Numbers at-a-glance” brochures to physicians across the state and inclusion of this information in several professional publications including the journal of the Kentucky Nurses Association
the passage of a KMA resolution which encouraged physicians to become familiar with, and adhere to the ADA Standards of Care
also created a diabetes task force as a subcommittee of the KMA community and rural health committee
the development of a KDN professional display and tablecloth for numerous professional and community events
the purchase of brochure holders to be placed in strategic locations to promote KDN to professionals
placement of additional articles in professional journals including those of the Kentucky Medical Association (KMA)
